Nel mondo del grande schermo i suoi film raggiunsero un livello tale di popolarità e di gradimento che, non solo fece aumentare improvvisamente l’interesse per le arti marziali, ma divenne un simbolo un'icona per il mondo intero. Per i cinesi divenne il ritratto dell’orgoglio nazionale, mentre nel resto del mondo molti videro Bruce come un modello di fisicità.
